Keysor Elementary Student Finishes First in Statewide Music Competition for Original Song
The University of Missouri School of Music hosted the annual “Creating Original Music Project” (COMP) statewide competition on Saturday, April 23 at the University of Missouri. Keysor 4th grade student Reichen Bechtel placed 1st in the Elementary Division Instrumental Music for his piano performance of The Dark Dance. Reichen was sponsored by Keysor music teacher, Dr. Tracy St. Clair.
The festival recognizes Missouri students (K-12) who compose original works in a variety of musical styles. Winning composers/performers and their schools are awarded cash prizes. Reichen received a $400 cash prize, and Keysor Elementary received a $1,000 cash prize.
