KSD BOE Approves Hire of New Chief Communications Officer
At its meeting on Monday, May 24, 2021, Kirkwood School District (KSD) Board of Education unanimously approved the recommendation to appoint Stephanie (Steph) Deidrick as the Chief Communications Officer for KSD. Deidrick currently serves as Press Secretary for the State Auditor’s Office. Deidrick began her career at the Missouri Senate as Communications Officer. She later served as the Communications Coordinator for the San Diego Police Officers Association and then returned to Missouri as the Communications Director for Missouri State Parks. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Truman State University.
The selection of Deidrick was made based on feedback from a committee comprised of staff, parents, and community members, experience in the communication field, and alignment with qualities identified in the leadership profile development process. “I am excited to welcome Steph Deidrick as the next Chief Communications Officer for Kirkwood School District,” said Superintendent David Ulrich. “Through her performance in her current role, coupled with what she demonstrated during a rigorous interview process, she rose to the top of a talented applicant pool.”
Ms. Diedrick will succeed Ms. Ginger Cayce, who is retiring from KSD in the Chief Communications Officer role effective June 30, 2021. “For 15 years, Ms. Cayce guided the growth of the Community Relations and Development department,” said Ulrich. “Among many accomplishments, she developed our Alumni and Athletic Hall of Fame programs and was instrumental in key fundraising efforts which have benefited our students and schools. Ms. Cayce's leadership will be missed, and I wish her good luck in her future endeavors."
Cayce served in public education for 22 years. During her tenure at KSD, her team in the Community Relations and Development department developed the KSD Communications Plan, recently chosen for presentation at the National School Public Relations Association conference.
