Kirkwood High School Student Art Project Selected for Missouri Senate Exhibition

Every year, the Missouri Art Education Association and the Missouri Alliance for Arts Education coordinate and support the Missouri Senate Hall Art Exhibit. The exhibit showcases fine arts programs across K-12 Missouri schools, in all 34 Senate Districts. Students and teachers from K-12 schools in Missouri submit a photo of a piece of artwork. The submitted photos are organized by district and sent to each State Senator.

The artwork of Kirkwood High School junior Elias Muraski was selected to represent MO Senate District 2 at the Missouri Capitol. The exhibit is located on the grounds of the Capitol in the hallway that leads from Senate parking to the Capitol ground floor entrance. The display will be up for the year at the Missouri Capitol to advocate legislator support for the arts.

Elias is in Jason Hoeing’s sculpture class at KHS. Elias’s sculpture is a box tape project. Students were asked to cast a proportionate sculpture of an arm using box tape, and installed it in an environment.
