Three Female Members of Troop 313G Earn Eagle Scout
Three Kirkwood School District students are members of troop 313G who earned their eagle scout award in the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts. They are Kirkwood High School (KHS) sophomore Kyra Goudsmit, freshman Addie Ludbrook, and senior Maggie Pennington.
Kyra Goudsmit
Kirkwood High School (KHS) sophomore Kyra Goudsmit earned Eagle Rank on December 9, 2020. Kyra is a member of Scouts BSA Troop 313G from Des Peres, MO, and is a member of the Inaugural Class of Female Eagle Scouts.
For Kyra’s Eagle Scout Leadership Project, she led a team that designed, built and installed a Little Free Food Pantry for Christ Church UCC, Maplewood giving those in need readily available food and the community an opportunity to share. Kyra joined Scouts BSA on the first date that girls were admitted - February 1, 2019. During her time in scouting, Kyra has served as Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, and Assistant Patrol Leader. She completed National Youth Leadership Training and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. She participates in many scouting activities including a 110-mile kayak trip down the Mississippi River and is planning a trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico this summer and a sailing trip at Sea Base next summer.
Additionally, Kyra has earned the Girl Scout Bronze and Silver Awards and is working on her Gold. She is a Sophomore Class Officer and a member of the KH Players. She has had her play, “Up a Tree” produced at Kirkwood High School and with the Young Playwrights Festival in Los Angeles, CA.
Addie Ludbrook
KHS School freshman Addie Ludbrook earned Eagle Rank November 4, 2020. Addie is a member of Scouts BSA Troop 313 from Des Peres, MO and is a member of the Inaugural Class of Female Eagle Scouts.
For Addie’s Eagle Scout Leadership Project, she led a team that designed, built and installed signs for the garden area at Tillman Elementary School.
Addie joined Scouts BSA on the first date that girls were admitted - February 1, 2019. During her time in scouting, Addie has served as Patrol Leader, completed National Youth Leadership Training and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. She participated in many scouting activities including a Civil War battlefield hike in Vicksburg, MS and a 110-mile kayak trip down the Mississippi River. She will complete a trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico this coming summer and has earned 23 merit badges.
Additionally, Addie is a member of the KHS Cross Country and Swim teams.
Maggie Pennington
KHS senior student Maggie Pennington earned the Eagle Scout rank on October 20, 2020 and is a member of the Inaugural Class of Female Eagle Scouts. Maggie is a member of Scouts BSA Troop 313G in Des Peres, MO.
For Maggie’s Eagle Scout Project she planned, designed, and led the construction of a children’s playground bridge for the First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood Children’s Center. Additionally, she constructed over 50 floating candle holders for the church’s Senior High Fellowship program.
During her time in Scouting, Maggie served as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, completed National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), and participated in and staffed National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE) at Philmont Scout Ranch. She participated in high adventure activities at Florida Sea Base and backpacked over 200 miles in the mountains at Philmont Scout Ranch.
Additionally, Maggie is a member of the KHS Women’s Cross-Country team, Track and Field team, and National Honor Society.
