Students from Kirkwood High School’s (KHS) KH Players (drama club) submitted a student written, acted, produced, and directed film to the annual All American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF). The title of the film, “Haunted Happenings,” is a comedic look into what happens when making a supernatural reality TV show goes horribly wrong. Their movie was announced as an “Official Section” as part of the 2021 All American High School Film Festival and shown at the festival in New York City, October 8-10, 2021.

The movie was written and produced by KHS students Kyra Goudsmit (junior), Mackenzie Klein (senior), Lucy Schene (senior), Ryan Zickel (senior), Ethan Pokress (junior), and Spencer Jones (junior) as part of the KHS film festival. Mackenzie and Kyra wrote the script through zoom meetings, Ryan acted, Lucy, Mackenzie, and Kyra both directed and acted, and Ethan and Spencer provided technical support with Spencer using his talents both in front of and behind the camera.

According to the AAHSFF website, films designated as AAHSFF Official Selections are the best of the best and have been selected by a panel of industry judges. All Official Selections are eligible to be nominated for an award. All award nominees and winners will be announced at the Teen Indie Awards on Sunday, October 10th at The Kings Theater in Brooklyn, NY.
