The Kirkwood School District is gathering public comment on two draft policies under review by the Board of Education that address public participation at board meetings and community engagement. Members of the public can submit feedback on the policies until June 16 by visiting kirkwoodschools.org/policies.
Updates to Policy BDDH: Public Participation at Board Meetings include clearer guidelines on public comment and the addition of a process to allow residents to put items on the school board agenda. Policy KC: Community Engagement is updated to reflect the importance of community engagement and outlines a process for a plan to be annually incorporated into the district's communications plan.
Both policies are being reviewed and provided for public feedback in compliance with state law, which requires the changes and community input when crafting the policies.
