Kirkwood Robotics Teams Qualify for State Competition
On February 4 and 5, Robotics teams from across the St. Louis area competed in the annual VEX Robotics competition at Ladue schools. Kirkwood schools had a strong showing of teams, and several took top spots, qualifying them for the Missouri VEX State Championship this March in Jefferson City.
The North Kirkwood Middle School Robotics Team 99766G consisting of Matteo Whiteaker (7th), William Imler (7th), and Max Garcia (8th) placed first and the sixth grade NKMS Team 99766A consisting of Jack Wheeler, Jeremiah Witt, Jacob Lawrence and James Rogers took second.
The Kirkwood High School Robotics Team 99766E consisting of NKMS and KHS students including Liam Nixon (8th grade NKMS), Jack Schwalb (10th grade KHS), Lucas Whiteaker (9th grade KHS) also finished first in the high school division, qualifying them for the Missouri VEX State Championship this March in Jefferson City.
A total of six Kirkwood teams participated in the competition of 28 teams, and all Kirkwood teams advanced to the elimination round.
