The KSD Board of Education approved the 2019-20 academic calendar. The first day of school will be Thursday, August 15, 2019. Beginning school midweek allows for a smoother back-to-school transition for our students.
Winter break will begin on Monday, December 23, 2019. Students will return to school on Monday, January 6, 2020. The last day of school will be an early dismissal day for students and is scheduled for May 21, 2020.
Staff development days have been included in the calendar and will include three full staff development days (school not in session for students) and three half-staff development days (early dismissal for students). This change is a direct result of parent and staff feedback.
A recent change in legislation no longer requires the district to have a minimum number of attendance days and focuses solely on attendance hours. Due to this change, we will begin the middle school day at 8:00 am beginning in the 2019-20 school year. This change allows for more flexibility when planning the academic calendar.
