Kirkwood High Symphonic Orchestra and North Kirkwood Middle Orchestra Selected for 2024 Missouri Music Educators Association Conference

Kirkwood High Symphonic Orchestra and North Kirkwood Middle Orchestra Selected for 2024 Missouri Music Educators Association Conference

The Kirkwood High School Symphonic Orchestra and North Kirkwood Middle School Orchestra were both selected to perform at the 2024 Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) In-Service Workshop and Conference. Kirkwood High School and North Kirkwood Middle School are two of only five orchestras from across the state who were selected for this honor.

To participate, the groups submitted a recorded audition. Students will travel to Lake of the Ozarks on Friday, Jan 26 to give performances for music educators from across the region. This will be the second appearance for NKMS (2020, 2024) and the sixth appearance for KHS (1996, 2000, 2006, 2012, 2017, 2024) at the MMEA Conference. It’s the first time that Kirkwood schools has had more than one orchestra selected in the same year.

MMEA’s membership includes more than 3,000 music educators. The 2024 conference marks the organization's 86th MMEA In-Service Workshop/Conference.

The programs are looking for continuing support to provide this experience at no cost to students. Individuals interested in supporting this effort can contact Fariga Drayton-Conway at fariga.drayton@kirkwoodschools.org and Sarah Klevorn at sarah.klevorn@kirkwoodschools.org.
