Candidate Filing for Kirkwood Board of Education Opens Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 8 a.m.

At its meeting on Nov. 5, the Kirkwood Board of Education called for the annual school board election to be held on April 2, 2019. Two positions for director of the Kirkwood Board of Education will be decided. The two board members whose terms expire in 2019 are Darnel Frost and Marie Kelly.

The opening date for filing for the April 2, 2019, Annual School Election is Tuesday, December 11, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The closing date for filing for the April 2nd election is Tuesday, January 15, 2019, from 7:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

All other filings will be accepted during regular office hours (M-F 7:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) except the following: school is closed for winter break from December 21, 2018, through January 1, 2019; and may also be closed due to inclement weather. 

Persons interested in filing for the two open positions may do so in the Office of the Superintendent at the Administrative Services Center, 11289 Manchester Road.  To be eligible for the Kirkwood Board of Education, an applicant must; - be a citizen of the United States, - be a resident taxpayer of the Kirkwood School District, - be at least 24 years old, - have, or will have, resided in Missouri for one year prior to the April 2, 2019, election.

According to Missouri law, section 115.124, if the number of candidates who have filed for the office is equal to the number of positions in that office to be filled by the election, no election shall be held for such office and the candidates shall assume the responsibilities of their offices at the same time and in the same manner as if they had been elected.
