100 Days of School Over the past week, our Kirkwood kids reached the 100th day of school. From learning our ABCs to diving into complex equations, we've come a long way. Our schools had fun celebrating this milestone with excitement and gratitude for all the knowledge gained and memories made.

The artistic talents of Kirkwood High School (KHS) students Ali McClure (12th grade, Ceramics I), Addison Kalkbrenner-Hicks (9th grade, Ceramics I), Penny VanDerHeide (10th grade, Ceramics I), and their KHS instructor Jason Hoeing will have their teapot creations exhibited at the Craft Alliance's High School Teapot Exhibit at Ladue Watkins Spiritas Gallery.

Kindergarten Registration for the 2024-25 School Year is Underway! Calling all 2037 graduates! Kindergarten registration for the 2024-25 has officially begun! Children who reach the age of 5 before August 1, 2024 are eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year.

The Awards and Honors Ceremony will be held three times a year to commend members of the Kirkwood Schools community for their accomplishments. Dr. Grana Named as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Today, the Kirkwood School District announced that Dr. Liz Grana will serve as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Grana had been serving in the role as interim since the beginning of the school year.

Halloween Treat Extravaganza at Tillman - Thank you PTOs! Tillman students had an awesome Halloween surprise. On Monday, October 30th, our amazing PTOs joined forces to create treat bags for all 493 students, and they delivered these spooktacular surprises this morning.

On Saturday, October 7, the Kirkwood School District Board of Education members joined staff and students of Westchester Elementary in officially cutting the ribbon on their new and expanded spaces, which were made possible thanks to the community’s support for Prop R. Test of Kirkwood's Emergency Notification System Kirkwood Schools will conduct a test of its emergency notification system on the evening of Thursday, October 12 at 6 p.m. We want to be sure our families and secondary students are informed of school cancellations due to inclement weather or in case of an emergency in our school community. The annual test of our automatic notification system ensures Kirkwood has accurate contact information for parents and secondary students.

As we continue to build a 2024-25 school year calendar, we wish to include as many voices from our community as possible. We are asking that anyone interested in providing feedback they believe is important for the calendar committee to consider (ie. cultural celebrations, religious holidays, etc.) via the Calendar Consideration Thoughtexchange. Please provide any feedback by the October 20 deadline.

Unified Night Lights Recap On Wednesday, KSD held the seventh annual “Unified Night Lights” flag football event. Hundreds of students came together in a unified flag football event. In a unified game, people with and without disabilities play together – side-by-side – shoulder-to-shoulder. The philosophy behind the event is that sports help provide a path to friendships and understanding and help break down barriers. The inaugural event was held in September 2016 and some 200+ students participated in the event.

Friday was International Literacy Day. It’s an opportunity to recognize that literacy is an integral part of the right to education and the foundation of lifelong learning. It’s also a reminder that lifelong learning knows no age limits. Some of our Westchester kindergarten students show off some books from the WE library they will have access to this school year. They are excited to read in this new learning space, which was made possible because of Prop R.
