If you are interested in participating in KHS Pioneer Athletics for the 2019-20 school year, please read below for important information.
1. Physical Packet
If a student intends to play sports for the Kirkwood Pioneers, they must have a valid physical packet on file in the athletic office prior to participation.
- A valid physical is dated after Feb. 1, 2019 and must be filled out and signed by a doctor.
- Forms must be on file in the KHS Athletic Office by the first day of team practice.
Forms can be downloaded in the forms section of the athletics website or picked up on the wall outside the athletic office. All FOUR forms must be completed. We prefer for you to only use our forms.
2. Insurance Requirements
All athletes MUST have basic accident (medical) insurance coverage to participate in athletics. This information is to be provided on the physical packet. If you do not have medical coverage, please visit the medical options section of the athletic website.
3. Practice Cards (postcard size card)
Once an athlete has a physical packet on file in the Athletic Office, they are issued a practice card. The athlete will then give this card to their coach in order to participate in practice or tryouts. Without this card, an athlete will NOT be able to participate.
FALL CARDS may be picked up in the Athletic Office July 29 through August 2 between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. The office is closed during DEAD WEEK, August 5 through 9.
4. ImPACT Testing
Any incoming Freshman, a student new to KHS, or who did not test last year and plans on participating in baseball, basketball, cheerleading, field hockey, football, girls lacrosse, soccer, softball, volleyball, or wrestling MUST attend one of the testing sessions listed below. ImPACT is a computerized baseline exam used to diagnose and manage concussions. It is valid for 2 years. It is given to athletes before beginning contact sports. It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
