STEAMFest Science Fair
STEAMFest is the Kirkwood School District’s science fair to pre-qualify eligible projects to advance to the annual Academy of Science St. Louis Science Fair. Students in grades Kindergarten through 12 are invited to share and celebrate their STEAM projects.
How Students Start. . .
Students submit an email from their student email address to STEAMFestForms@kirkwoodschools.org.
Body of email MUST contain student's full name, school, grade and teacher's full name.
Students complete a Research Plan and attach to their email. (Without this, projects will not be considered for Queeny.)
A parent or guardian must sign the Safety Form. Students attach that signed version to their email. (Without this, projects will not be considered for Queeny.)
Students do this no later than January 13, 2022. No late submissions will be accepted.
What Happens Next . . .
Kirkwood will review your Research Plan and Safety Form.
We will email you approval of your Research Plan, or possibly ask for minor changes to your project to ensure it meets the ASSSLSF requirements.
Now you can start your project!!!
The Research Plan, the Safety Form, and the Kirkwood approval should be included in your logbook.
No late submissions will be accepted. All submissions MUST be sent from student’s email.
Working On Your Project . . .
All virtual projects should be submitted in PowerPoint (or pdf) and limited to ten pages.
Your logbook should be submitted in Word and should include your Kirkwood-approved Research Plan and parent-signed Safety Form. (it's worth 10 points!!)
Including those forms, the logbook is limited to ten pages.
Keynote and Pages will not be accepted. This is due to the Academy of Science St. Louis Science Fair accepting only Word and PowerPoint or PDF’s.
CLICK HERE for instructions on converting Keyote to PowerPoint and Pages to Word.
Completed projects will be emailed from the student's email to STEAMFestForms@kirkwoodschools.org NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 16, 2022.
What Kirkwood Does . . .
Kirkwood will judge electronic submissions from February 16 through March 4, 2022.
By March 11, 2022, we will email students with their score and grading rubric.
A list of participants with ribbon placement will be posted on our website and shared through social media.
What About Queeny . . .
Students that qualify to advance to the Academy of Science St. Louis Science Fair will be provided with details on how to register their projects online.
Students will have time to tweak their projects before competing. (Students may NOT totally re-do or create a different project for Queeny.)
Online registration on the Academy of Science St. Louis Science Fair's website must be completed by students no later than noon on March 17, 2022.
Students will then have until noon on April 21, 2022 to upload their projects to the ASSLSF website.
