If you are interested in participating in KHS Pioneer Athletics for the 2019-20 school year, please read below for important information.
1. Privit Website
In an ongoing effort to simplify the pre-participation process for our students, parents, and coaches, the athletic office is implementing an automated paperless document collection source called Privit for the 2019-20 school year. The cumbersome process of collecting physicals and parent permission forms in our office will no longer be necessary. For more information about Privit you can go to the Privit online instructions page on the website. To begin uploading forms, you can go to the KHS Privit website at kirkwoodpioneer.e-ppe.com.
2. Physical Packet
If a student intends to play sports for the Kirkwood Pioneers, they must have a valid physical uploaded to Privit prior to participation.
The member schools of MSHSAA voted in favor of allowing physicals, used for athlitic participation to be good for 2 years. This will have the greatest impact on the coming 2019-20 school year. If you have a physical on file that is good next year, please stop by the athletic office to pick up your physical to that you can upload it to your Pivot profile prior to getting a practice card.
If your physical is dated on or after July 1, 2019, then it will be good through the 2020-2021 school year as well. It will expire on June 30, 2021.
- Forms can be downloaded in the forms section of the athletics website or picked up on the wall outside the athletic office. We prefer for you to only use our forms.
3. Insurance Requirements
All athletes MUST have basic accident (medical) insurance coverage to participate in athletics. This information is to be provided on the physical packet. If you do not have medical coverage, please visit the medical options section of the athletic website.
4. Practice Cards (postcard size card)
Once an athlete has a physical packet on file in the Athletic Office, they are issued a practice card. The athlete will then give this card to their coach in order to participate in practice or tryouts. Without this card, an athlete will NOT be able to participate.
FALL CARDS may be picked up in the Athletic Office July 29 through August 2 between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. The office is closed during DEAD WEEK, August 5 through 9.
5. ImPACT Testing
Any incoming Freshman, a student new to KHS, or who did not test last year and plans on participating in baseball, basketball, cheerleading, field hockey, football, girls lacrosse, soccer, softball, volleyball, or wrestling MUST attend one of the testing sessions (times are still being determined). ImPACT is a computerized baseline exam used to diagnose and manage concussions. It is valid for 2 years. It is given to athletes before beginning contact sports. It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
6. Summer Camp and Summer Workouts
Summer camp information can be found at www.kirkwoodcamps.com. In addition to camps, many sports teams have workouts or conditioning over the summer. Please contact the head coach of the sport your athlete may be interested in for dates, times, and locations. Be sure to follow your team on Twitter! Coaches will tweet information often--keeping you most up to date!
