BOE Approves Strategic Plan

Kirkwood Board of Education approves strategic plan serve as a roadmap for the district through 2026

Plan rooted in vision “every student – engaged, empowered, and ready for success”  

​​At their July 26 meeting, the Kirkwood School District Board of Education approved a new strategic plan for Kirkwood Schools. Guided by the mission “to equip students with the skills, knowledge and understanding to be empathetic, successful, and to value all people,” the plan will serve as a roadmap for the District through 2026.

“We value the input we received to create this strategic plan and appreciate the approval of the Board of Education to ensure our District is operating with a shared mission and vision. I also want to thank the members of the Strategic Plan Team for their efforts,” Superintendent David Ulrich said. “This is a living document that will guide our initiatives and decision making as we seek to improve outcomes for our students. We are committed to keeping the community informed as we achieve our goals and objectives.” 

The strategic plan is rooted in the vision, “Every student – engaged, empowered, and ready for success.” Each year of the plan, specific and measurable action steps will be developed, and the District will focus on four priority goal areas:

• Relevant and Rigorous Curriculum, Instruction and Programs
• Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
• Student and Staff Social, Emotional and Mental Health
• Communication and Engagement

In order to create the final plan, the District engaged with students, staff and the community. Last spring, the District conducted a survey to gain feedback and encouraged residents throughout the community to participate. Those results were incorporated in the development of the new plan. Additionally, focus group meetings were held with students, parents, teachers and other community stakeholders to garner additional feedback.
