Kirkwood Teachers of Color (KTOC)

2015-2016: The Kirkwood School District (KSD) Task Force recommendation was made and approved to intentionally recruit with an emphasis on mentoring in order to retain our teachers of color

2018: The recommendation came to fruition, and a lead mentor was hired to lead a group of educators through mentoring and professional development. Half-day professional development activities were designed to create intentional “brave and safe spaces” for our teachers of color.

Since 2018, Kirkwood Teachers of Color has served as a safe and brave space for staff of color in the district
