2026-27 Teachers of the Year

Over the past two weeks, we have had the honor of announcing our Teachers of the Year for the 2026-27 school year! The Kirkwood Teacher of the Year program, designed by teachers to recognize the efforts of all educators in our district, gives each school the opportunity to celebrate an outstanding teacher. The selection process is reviewed annually by a committee of representatives from all nine schools, ensuring that every staff member has a voice in honoring a Teacher of the Year from their building. These exceptional educators have the opportunity to apply for the District Teacher of the Year program, where their dedication to students, staff, and the community will be further celebrated.

Congratulations to Nipher Middle School 7th grader Valentina, whose artwork was selected for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra’s Picture the Music program!

Chosen from more than 500 submissions, Valentina’s piece is one of just 100 artworks that will be featured in the program’s awards ceremony and traveling exhibit. Students created their artwork by responding to music from SLSO Composer-in-Residence Kevin Puts, exploring the powerful connection between music, art, and emotional expression.

Inclement Weather Tracker

Here’s a reminder on where we stand for inclement weather days. We've used three traditional snow days so far this year. Traditional Snow Days mean no school and no assignments. Once those are used, we will transition to AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) Days, where students engage in educational activities from home.
