Kirkwood School District: STEAMfest 2026 Recap

On February 9, the halls of the Kirkwood High School campus were buzzing with energy as KSD hosted its annual district-wide STEAMfest Event. With 41 student-led projects on display and hundreds of families in attendance, the evening was a vibrant celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.

From hands-on experiments to professional-grade showcases, the event highlighted the incredible talent and curiosity of our KSD community.

Highlights from the Night

The KHS campus was transformed into an interactive laboratory. 

• Green Energy & Sustainability: Attendees pedaled their way to a healthy treat using a bike-powered blender and joined the KHS Environmental Club to learn the art of upcycling.
• Scientific Spectacles: The Physics, Astronomy, and Chemistry Club wowed the crowd with a dry ice demonstration, while Bayer representatives helped guests create beautiful "Chromatography Flowers."
• The Future of Tech: Our KSD Robotics teams provided a deep dive into the world of coding, demonstrating how their robots navigate complex fields.
• Art & Industry: Lindenwood University brought high fashion with student-designed apparel, and the St. Louis County Department of Health taught us the science of recycling by turning paper scraps into fresh, full sheets.

Congratulations to our 42 students who submitted a project to the science fair portion of the event. 19 projects earned 1st place, 10 projects earned 2nd place, and 13 projects earned 3rd place.
