Kirkwood School District Board of Education Candidate Filing Opens on Dec. 10

Filing for the April 8, 2025, Kirkwood Board of Education election will open on Dec. 10, 2024. Two director positions on the Kirkwood School Board will be decided on the April 8 ballot. The two board members whose terms expire in 2024 are Mark Boyko and Judy Moticka. 

Filing will be conducted through a cooperation agreement with the St. Louis County Election Board. This ensures consistent office hours during the full filing period, which concludes during the district’s annual winter break when all offices are closed. 

Candidates will file declarations at the Election Board, located at 725 Northwest Plaza Drive in St. Ann. No filing will occur at the district office. Candidates can file between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from Dec. 10 through Dec. 31, 2024. No filings will occur on December 25 due to the Election Board office being closed. The office may be closed due to inclement weather.

A lottery will be conducted to determine ballot placement on the first day of filing. On the last day of candidate filing only (Dec. 31, 2024), candidate filing ends at 5 p.m. 

Candidates must be citizens of the United States, residents of the Kirkwood School District for a minimum of one year, residents of Missouri for at least one year preceding the election and at least 24 years of age. 

According to Missouri law, if the number of candidates who have filed for office is equal to the number of positions in that office to be filled by the election, no election shall be held for such office. The candidate shall assume the responsibilities of their offices at the same time and in the same manner as if they had been elected.
