Kirkwood School District Board of Education Approves Hire of New Assistant Principal of Kirkwood Early Childhood Center

At the regularly scheduled Kirkwood School District Board of Education meeting on Monday, March 30, the board approved the recommendation of Laura Cochran as the new assistant principal for the Kirkwood Early Childhood Center (KECC), effective July 1, 2026.

Cochran has 25 years of experience in early childhood education at KECC in 2003. Since 2012, she has been a part of the Early Childhood Special Education team. Her experience at KECC includes leadership roles and classroom experience. 

Mrs. Cochran brings an incredible wealth of expertise to our team, “ said Mary Pat Blaskiewicz, who will take on the role of KECC principal in July. “During her time at KECC, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to inclusive and supportive learning environments. We are excited to have her as our next Assistant Principal.” 

Cochran earned her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. She also has a certification in Early Childhood Special Education and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from Lindenwood University.
