Kirkwood High School Recognized as a Project ADAM Heart Safe School
Members of the Kirkwood High School (KHS) Emergency Response Team stand beneath the “Project ADAM” banner after earning the designation as a Project ADAM Heart Safe School. This was attained by KHS by successfully implementing a quality sudden cardiac arrest program of awareness, training and effective emergency response to promote a Heart Safe environment for students, visitors and staff as outline by the Heart Safe School Checklist.

Julie is holding a new AED which was donated to KHS by the Project Adam /Heart Safe Schools Program at St. Louis Children's Hospital.
The designation was pursued after a staff member experienced a cardiac emergency and was successfully resuscitated. Greg, Julie and Tracey were the responders who performed CPR and resuscitated the staff member. KHS took proactive steps to enhance campus safety by pursuing the Heart Safe School designation. In February, the KHS staff successfully completed an all-staff cardiac emergency drill by Dr. Deepa Mokshagundam from Washington University Pediatric Cardiology.
"The designation at KHS is a Heart Safe School is big news,” said KHS Lead Nurse Julie Tadros. “Senate Bill 166 requires public schools to develop cardiac emergency response plans for the start of the 2026-27 school year. I’m incredibly proud that Kirkwood is already ahead of the game. Our designation as a Project ADAM Heart Safe School shows that we’ve taken proactive steps to protect our students and staff, and it's a testament to the commitment of our district to prioritize safety and preparedness."
