Kirkwood High School Math Team Finishes 4th Nationally at 2026 MathLeague Championship

Students from Kirkwood High School earned national recognition at the 2026 National MathLeague Championship, held May 16 at Washington University in St. Louis, with the Kirkwood team placing fourth overall among more than 70 schools from across the country.

Kirkwood delivered strong performances across multiple competition events, highlighting both individual excellence and the depth of the program. The team earned second place nationally in the Power Question event and fourth place in the Team Event. Team members competing in those events included Luka Artomov, Joey Edwards, Jack Greenberg, Sienna Staten, Charlie Villhard, and Tada Wang.

In the Relay Event, Kirkwood captured second place nationally. The relay team consisted of Luka Artomov, Joey Edwards, and Tada Wang.

Individually, Joey Edwards and Sienna Staten each finished among the top 10 overall competitors in the 12th grade, qualifying for the International MathLeague Championship this summer in Bali, Indonesia. There, they will join other top scorers from around the nation as members of Team USA in international competition.

While several students earned national recognition individually, Kirkwood’s fourth-place overall finish reflected the collective strength of the entire team. Sweepstakes scores are determined by combining performances across multiple events, making contributions from the full roster essential to overall success.

Members of the 2026 Kirkwood High School Math Team include Luka Artomov, Oliver Burkemper, Riley Day, Tien Do, Joey Edwards, Henrique Gomes, Finn Greenberg, Jack Greenberg, Josephine Kim, Luisa Marietta, Melvin Maclin, Isaiah Smith, Sienna Staten, Charlie Villhard, Tada Wang, Audrey Warner, and Jack Wheeler. The team is coached by Olivia Rea and Katie Hall.
