Kirkwood High School Celebrates 61 Seniors Earning Academic and Athletic Scholarships

On Thursday, April 24, Kirkwood High School (KHS) held a special recognition ceremony celebrating seniors who have been awarded scholarships covering 50% or more of their tuition. These students earned their scholarships through exceptional academic performance or by committing to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Students were honored by KHS Principal Dr. Seth Harrell and Senior Class Principal Ms. Stephanie Owens. The celebration included the ceremonial signing of letters of intent, marking a symbolic step toward the students’ next chapters in higher education.

“These students have worked incredibly hard over the last 12 to 13 years to get to this point,” said Harrell. “You’ve made the right choices, prioritized your responsibilities, and we’re proud to recognize your success today. These scholarships weren’t given; they were earned. Colleges and universities have invested in you because they believe in your potential to do great things.” 

Owens also shared words of encouragement, expressing her pride in both students and the families who supported them along the way. “I want to acknowledge the parents and loved ones who have helped build the foundation for this success,” she said. “Your scholarship represents more than dollars. It reflects the wise decisions, hard work, and perseverance you’ve shown. Today is a celebration of your journey and a moment to say thank you to those who helped you along the way. Be bold, be great, and always be proud. Congratulations, Class of 2025!”
