KHS Students Raise $1,200 for Grieving Children in "Hair for Hope" Fundraiser

KHS Students Raise $1,200 for Grieving Children in "Hair for Hope" Fundraiser

Students in Mr. Rowland’s AP Language and Composition class at KHS successfully raised $1,200 during a school-wide fundraiser called “Hair for Hope.” Throughout November, students donated funds toward one of 11 KHS teachers, with the teacher receiving the most donations agreeing to cut or shave their hair live during the morning announcements.

The competition raised $1,200, with physical education teacher Mr. Matt Beasley receiving over a third of the total money collected at $433.07. Mr. Beasley held up his end of the deal, and had his head shaved live during morning announcements on Monday, December 2.

The money raised will be donated to Annie’s Hope, a local organization dedicated to providing support services to children, teens, and families grieving the loss of a loved one.

Other KHS staff members volunteered to participate were Ms. Zibart, Mr. Hoeing, Ms. Benben, Mr. Eskelsen, Ms. Jones, Mr. Cotta, Mr. Steinmetz, Mr. Becker, Mr. Evans, and Mr. Clark.

Selecting Annie's Hope came out of a conversation with my class,” said Rowland. “Students had friends or family members that had benefitted from their services. We chose them because of their important focus on supporting kids through grief.”
