KHS Celebrates 54 Seniors Earning Academic and Athletic Scholarships
During a ceremony on Thursday, April 25, Kirkwood High School (KHS) recognized 54 students who are continuing their education at various institutions across the country and were awarded 50% or more of the cost of tuition for their academic accomplishments as well as students who are continuing their athletic career by participating in intercollegiate athletics. All students were recognized by Kirkwood High School principal Dr. Seth Harrell and senior class principal, Dr. Josh Flores. The students then participated by signing a ceremonial letter of intent.
“Thank you to all Kirkwood School District teachers and staff who have supported our students during their time in Kirkwood Schools to get our students to this momentous occasion,” said Harrell. “And thank you to our families for the love and guidance you’ve shown these students to allow them to pursue their passions as they enter this next chapter. To our students, you’ve left a great mark on Kirkwood.”
Flores then shared his pride with the students as senior class principal. “Your accomplishments and success did not happen by accident, chance, or luck,” said Flores. “The fact that you are here provides testimony of hard work, intelligence, perseverance, and commitment. Take these skills and abilities you have honed and worked hard to achieve to the next level. Dare to be great. Leave a legacy behind wherever you go, just as you have done at KHS. As your days at KHS grow to a close, know that you are part of an elite group of students that make Kirkwood High School such a great institution and community. Know that you will forever be a part of the “’Best to Walk the Floor, the KHS Class of 2024.'"
