Keysor Elementary Launches Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Special Tribute and Fundraiser

On Wednesday, October 1, Keysor Elementary School kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month in two special ways.

Students and staff wore pink and gathered to form a human ribbon in honor of IDEA Lab teacher Traci Jansen, who is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The powerful visual tribute was a show of solidarity and love from the Keysor community.

In addition, the school launched its grade-level Coins for Care drive, a friendly competition where students collect donations to benefit St. Luke’s Women’s Healthcare Center in Mrs. Jansen’s honor. The grade raising the most money will earn a special food truck lunch later this fall.

“Breast cancer awareness is a very important cause to our Keysor community,” said Dr. Alyssa Taylor, Keysor principal. “This year, it is making a deep impact on our school as Mrs. Jansen bravely battles this disease. We are surrounding her, and all fighting this disease, with love.”
