Sights and Sounds from Our 9th Annual Unified Night Lights

“I’m so happy to see you and be your buddy again!”
“What’s your favorite kind of pizza?”
“I can’t wait to score a touchdown!”
“Let’s sit together in the stands and cheer everyone on.”
“How does some pre-game dance practice sound?”
“I can’t wait to play the drums tonight!”

From game playing, dance performances, and dinner conversations inside, to a spirited rally tunnel and storming the field, the evening was filled with unforgettable moments. Genuine excitement and smiles on the faces of students, families, and staff—along with perfect weather—made it truly a night to remember.

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helped plan, support, and encourage our students at this year’s Unified Night Lights!

This event recreates the excitement of a traditional football game night – an iconic event in American culture. Hundreds of students came together in a unified flag football event. In a unified game, people with and without disabilities play together – side-by-side – shoulder-to-shoulder. The philosophy behind the event is that sports help provide a path to friendships and understanding and help break down barriers. The inaugural event was held in September 2016 and some 200+ students participated in the event.
