High School Options

KHS Credit Recovery - In Person

• Credit Recovery allows students who have failed courses during the school year to address work and grade deficiencies, with the goal of achieving a passing grade and earning credit for the course.  
• Students participating in Summer School for credit recovery will attend class on campus, beginning June 1, 2026 and continuing each Monday-Friday morning until they earn a satisfactory grade in required courses or until June 18, whichever comes first.

KHS Credit Enhancement

• Credit Enhancement allows students to take courses during the summer months that they might otherwise need to schedule into their academic school year.
• Students taking Health, Personal Finance, or Lifetime Fitness (PE) for credit enhancement will take courses online, via Schoology, between June 1 - 26, 2026.  These courses will be taught by KSD teachers, using Kirkwood curriculum.  
• All high school students interested in taking summer coursework for credit enhancement should contact Amber Kapral or their grade level counselor.
• Please note that rising 9th Grade students wanting to take a Summer Credit Enhancement class via Pe-LA or Launch must have completed the sign up form by May 8, 2026.  Families/students who sign up after May 8, 2026 (if there is space) can not be guaranteed a laptop before the start of summer school. Details on laptop distribution will be coming later in April.

Credit Enhancement and/or Adaptive Academies via Launch - Online Only

• All current 8th-11th grade students can take online courses for credit this summer through LAUNCH, a KSD partner based out of Springfield Public Schools. 
• *Please note that families interested in LAUNCH programming will register directly with Kirkwood, NOT with Springfield School District.* The link to enroll can be found on Enroll in LAUNCH for Summer.
• LAUNCH courses are offered from June 1 - 26, 2026 and July 6 - 31, 2026.  Students can potentially take up to two courses per month or four courses per summer, if desired.
• Students who do not log in and participate within the first two days of each session will be automatically dropped by the LAUNCH office.
• Please note that rising 9th Grade students wanting to take an ESY Credit Enhancement class via Pe-LA or LAUNCH must have completed the sign up form by May 8, 2026.  Families/students who sign up after May 8, 2026 (if there is space) can not be guaranteed a laptop before the start of summer school. Details on laptop distribution will be coming later in April.
