About Success Ready Students Network

The Kirkwood School District is committed to ensuring every student is engaged, empowered, and ready for success with the skills, knowledge and understanding to be empathetic, successful, and to value all people.

The Kirkwood School District has joined 37 school districts across Missouri to develop a more effective approach for each student to engage in meaningful learning, demonstrate individual growth, and prepare for future success. This group, known as the Success-Ready Students Network (SRSN), has been granted an innovation waiver by the state of Missouri to design a more effective way to measure student success.

Key components of the improved measurement:

Students engage in real-world learning experiences that support high school, college, career and workplace readiness.
Measuring student achievement three times throughout the school year using FastBridge.
Students identify what they are learning, why they are learning it, where they are in their learning, and what they need to do in order to grow.

ELA/Math Benchmark Data

The graphs below represent students' high school readiness, showing ELA and Math achievement for students in grades 3rd-8th. The data can be viewed in three different ways: Academic Readiness, Growth and the intersection of Growth and Academic Readiness.

Academic Readiness describes a student's academic level of readiness in ELA and Math in fall, winter, and spring.
Student Growth is described in four ways: aggressive, typical, modest, and flat. Student growth is measured twice throughout the school year, once from fall to winter and again from fall to spring.
The intersection of Growth and Academic Readiness Quadrant categorizes students' growth based on their academic readiness level.

End of Course Assessment

Students in Missouri, including Missouri Option Program students, have four End-of-Course (EOC) assessments that are required prior to high school graduation: Algebra I, Biology, English II and Government. For students who complete the Algebra I EOC assessment prior to high school, Algebra II is the required high school mathematics assessment for accountability purposes.

Qualifying Assessments

Department-approved measures (qualifying assessments) are represented by the following: ACT®, SAT®, WorkKeys®, ACCUPLACER®, and ASVAB. Scores on any of these assessments count toward the College and Career Readiness Assessment calculation. Once a student has identified goals in their Individual Career and Academic Plan, the student then identifies the appropriate CCR assessment that aligns with the ICAP goal(s). In this way, the assessments are more meaningful for the student since the assessment connects directly to their personal goals.

Graduation Rate

The student graduation rate is calculated by data submitted through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education core data platform. The score is calculated based on the percentage of students who complete an educational program that meets the graduation requirement of 24 credits. Students may complete requirements in 4 but no more than 7 years in Missouri. LEAs required reporting aligns with DESE’s current practice (4-year and 5-year)

Graduation Follow-Up

The Follow-Up rate measures the extent to which the students of an LEA or school pursue gainful opportunities after graduation. Points in this category are awarded to graduates who meet one of the five identified categories in the indicator: college enrollment, trade/technical school, employment, military service, and/or National or Community Service or Peace Corps.

Market Value Assets

Market Value Assets are skills in high demand by employers that can be placed on a resume or portfolio, such as work experiences, internships, industry-recognized credentials, college credit, and/or entrepreneurial experiences.

AP Test Success

591 Kirkwood High School students took 1,115 AP exams in 2024-25. Of those students, 79% (465 students) scored 3 or higher and qualified for college credit in the state of Missouri.

Individual Career & Academic Plan

The Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) is a “roadmap” that helps students develop the awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to create meaningful pathways to be success-ready graduates.

The ICAP is a multi-year process, beginning no later than the eighth grade. This intentionally guides students and families in the exploration of career, academic, and multiple post-secondary opportunities, which ultimately results in direct access to the workforce, military, tech schools or area career centers, vocational training or apprenticeships, 2-year colleges, and/or 4-year colleges.
