Opt Out Information
Kirkwood School District offers high quality library access to all students in the district. All materials in our library media centers are selected in accordance with KSD Policy IIAC and Regulation IIAC-R1, and our library procedures manual. We recognize that not all books within a library will be of interest to all students within a school, and some topics may be more appropriate for some students than others.

Families are encouraged to do their own research. There are many sources by which families can stay informed about books. American Library Association, publishes data about books that have been frequently challenged in libraries and schools. To ensure transparency related to this information you may contact the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction if you would like a list of the ALA's most frequently challenged books that are held in your student's library. Common Sense Media is another resource that provides families with tools to evaluate books and media.
Families who want to restrict checkouts of specific texts in the library should complete this form.
