Library/Media
The Kirkwood R-7 School District provides library media services to students and teachers at all district campuses. Library media centers are filled with a variety of print and multimedia resources to meet the diverse needs of our learners, including books, magazines, newspapers, online reference sources, and workstations for online access and research. Library media center collections have been specifically selected to support the schools’ instructional programs. Each campus has at least one certified library media specialist (LMS) and some have a library assistant. All provide support, instruction, and materials to KSD students so they learn to access, evaluate, and use information from a variety of sources.
Our library media specialists are thoughtful in their work to build collections - of books and other materials - that encourage reading for pleasure and information, support the curricular goals of our schools, and assist in the instruction of meaningful and transferable research skills. Libraries are essential to the success of our schools, offering students voluntary access to a wide range of books and other materials. No student is required to read any book in our libraries, and our librarians work to help students find materials that align with their interests and learning needs.
