Team Sports & Fitness
Course Description
The Team Sports class is a sports-based course that emphasizes all areas of participation in a variety of sports and sports activities. Students will learn the necessary skills, terminology, and rules of each sport, and will interact in situations that are relative to the origin of the sport. Students will participate in team sports, such as basketball, football, softball, speedball, soccer, mat ball, and other fitness-based activities.
Research shows that participation in physical activity has a direct positive correlation with academic achievement. Team sports and games promote movement, skill development, and opportunities for successful team interaction. Students will participate in a variety of sports and games, teach classmates rules and skills, and have the opportunity to officiate various sports and games.
