Course Description

In this course, instructional time focuses on four critical areas: (1) extending understanding of base-ten notation; (2) building fluency with addition and subtraction; (3) using standard units of measure; and (4) describing and analyzing shapes.

Spiral Module: Extending Number Sense - Working with Time and Money

  • Tell and write time to the nearest 5-minute 
  • Determine the value of a collection of coins up to $1.00

Module 1: Adding and Subtracting - Becoming Fluent within 20

  • Fluently add/subtract to 20 using mental strategies

Module 2: Extending Number Sense - Understands Place Value Part 1

  • Count by ones, fives, and tens within 100
  • Build, read, write, and compare three-digit numbers based on hundreds, tens, and ones

Module 3: Describe and Analyze Shapes and Fractions

  • Recognize and draw shapes based on a set of attributes

Module 4: Adding and Subtracting - Becoming Fluent within 100

  • Solve addition and subtraction problems within 100 using a variety of strategies
  • Fluently add/subtract to 20 using mental strategies

Module 5: Collecting, Representing and Interpreting Data

  • Create an accurate representation of a given set of data using line plots, picture graphs, & bar graphs

Module 6: Estimate and Measure Lengths in Standard Units

  • Solve addition and subtraction problems within 100 using a variety of strategies (used in solving problems with length)

Module 7: Adding and Subtracting - Using Place Value to Extend within 1000

  • Fluently add/subtract to 20 using mental strategies
  • Add or subtract within 1000 and justify the solution
  • Tell and write time to the nearest 5-minute
  • Determine the value of a collection of coins up to $1.00

Module 8: Developing Multiplication and Division

  • Count by ones, fives, and tens within 100
  • Solve addition and subtraction problems within 100 using a variety of strategies
  • Fluently add/subtract to 20 using mental strategies 
  • Tell and write time to the nearest 5-minute

Module 9: Adding and Subtracting - Review Relationships

  • Add or subtract within 1000 and justify the solution
