Wellness Week November 30-December 4
Wellness Week (WW) is designed to improve the personal well-being of students, staff and community members to create positive and life-long social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, mental, and physical habits. Throughout the week, each day will focus on an important theme designed to help us learn new ways to incorporate wellness into our daily lives.
KSD adopted the "Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child" (WSCC) model which is a 10 component philosophy developed by the CDC to address health in schools. The WSCC model is student-centered and emphasizes the role of the community in supporting the school, the connections between health and academic achievement, and the importance of evidence-based school policies and practices. WW focuses on emphasizing the 10 areas of the WSCC Model and the KSD’s Comprehensive Wellness Plan. We know schools play a critical role in promoting the health and safety of young people and helping them establish lifelong healthy behaviors. Establishing these healthy behaviors during childhood is easier and more effective than trying to change unhealthy behaviors during adulthood.
