Who is creating the classes and what is the process like?
All five elementary principals and the teachers for Kirkwood K-5 at Home Learning worked together to assign students to classes. The goal was to keep as many of our elementary students with their classmates from their school of attendance.
-
Will we still be able to schedule time with counselors?
Yes. Students will still have their school counselor. In addition, KSD has additional resources called intentional connectors with the purpose of intentionally setting time to check in with families remaining virtual. Our goal is for children to still feel connected to their home school.
-
Will virtual classrooms have the same size guidelines as in person classrooms?
Yes. As with in-person learning, we will work to ensure our class size guidelines are met. However, there may be instances where a virtual class may be over by one or two students. This is also true of in-person classes. In all cases, we will ensure the teacher has the necessary resources and support to serve students successfully.
-
Will at home lessons be equitable to in-person lessons?
Yes. Students at home learning will be taught by a KSD teacher, KSD curriculum. While the daily schedule will look different for elementary students in at-home and in-person learning environments, lessons will follow the Kirkwood curriculum and scope and sequence.
