- To promote the safety of each athlete and to ask no more in practice or competition than what the athletes are capable of delivering.
- To promote the conditions and circumstances that encourages each athlete to realize their true potential.
- To impose time demands that acknowledges the primary importance of the athlete's academic and family responsibilities.
- To promote among all athletes and coaches a solid sense of team membership.
- To utilize the most recent thinking and strategies in the sport.
- To be available to parents at times that is mutually convenient.
- To work, whenever appropriate, with other school personnel to guarantee the best interests of each of athlete.
Roberta McWoods- Head Track & Field Coach
Grew up as "Army Brat", went to school in Virginia, South Carolina, New York City, California and St. Louis. 1985 Graduate University of Missouri-Columbia. Earned a Masters degee in Elementary Education & Reading Certification 1992 at UMSL. Retired 2014 (teaching) 29 years North Glendale Elemenatary, Kirkwood School District. Currently serving as Master Mentor KSD 2018-present. 1992-93 Kirkwood School District Teacher of th Year. Track & Field athlete (heptathlon & 400m hurdles) University of Missouri-Columbia 2x All-Big 8 Athlete. Married 26 years, two children ages 25, 23, both graduates of Kirkwood High School. Husband (Ricky), daughter (Bria) 2012 MSHSAA runner-up 300m hurdles. Son (Eric) MSHSAA State Championships Relay finalist, High School Soccer All-American, currently playing professional soccer in Europe. 34 years of coaching experience; Inducted into the Missouri Track and Cross Country Association Hall of Fame 2014. First woman President of MTCCCA, 4 year member of MSHSAA Track & Field Advisory Board member as a represenative of St. Louis.

1998 Graduate Lindenwood University, 2003 Masters in Education Maryville University. 21 years teaching Kirkwood School District. Track & Field is an amazing sport to coach! In the field events, time is unique-we work on a variety of methods to create a big impact! Throwing is explosive, technique driven and FULL of incredible competition! I threw in High School and at the collegiate level but mainly played volleyball and basketball through my college career. Married to my husband Omar, we are busy raising our Pioneers in Kirkwood! Our kids all enjoy many sports but have a passion for track as well, their ages 23, 17, 11, 8. Voted as Most Distinguished Assistant Coach by MTCCCA 2018.

Married 21 years, Two children ages 18 and 11. Father is a member of the Illinois Football Coaches Hall of Fame. Concentrating on the decathlon and javelin primarily … Opened in the decathlon at the Texas Relays with strong marks in the long jump (ninth place), high jump (ninth), discus (fifth) and javelin (fourth) … Won the javelin at the Texas Tech Open with a toss of 195-4 (59.54 meters) before improving his distance a week later at the Jim Click Shootout, where he placed third with a mark of 205-4 (62.58) … Participated in the decathlon at the Mt. SAC Relays, earning first in the javelin … Placed ninth in the 400 and sixth in the high jump at the Brutus Hamilton Challenge, with marks of 49.66 and 6-4 ¾ (1.95), respectively … Placed second in the javelin at the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational with a mark of 210-4 (64.12) … Despite a disqualification in the 110 hurdles in the decathlon at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships, placed third in the decathlon via victories in seven of the eight event: the 100, long jump, shot put, 400, discus, javelin, 800 … Also won the javelin at the MW Championships with a then-personal record of 213-5 (65.05) … Advanced to the NCAA West Preliminary Round in the javelin, where he advanced to the national championships with a personal record toss of 215-4 (65.63) … Placed 24th at the NCAA Championships with a mark of 189-2 (57.67).
