KSDF Named Award Application Process

  • Named Awards Extension: Due 3/3

The application for 2023 Named Awards is open now and will now close on Friday, March, 3, 2023!

One application makes you eligible for any of the senior KSDF Named Awards for which you may be eligible. There are three additional, separate awards for which underclassmen and/or staff are also eligible for, and those have separate links to which to apply.

The Kirkwood School District Foundation Named Award Scholarship Program applications are processed via an online Application Form. Scholarship applications are received through Kaleidoscope, a secure, cloud-based scholarship management program.

Click Here to review the Named Award Scholarship Descriptions before starting your application.

*An application will not be considered complete unless all three steps below are completed and the required documentation is received.  Please allow yourself plenty of time to complete the application, to avoid last-minute surprises.*

    1. Scholarship Application:  Determine the scholarship(s) that you may qualify for. There are four separate application links depending on what you are interested in: one general application for applying to any of the 2-year and 4-year scholarships for graduating seniors, as well as a link for the Woodard Family Arts Grant, the Glunt Family Award, and the Myrtle Agnew Walker Endowment for the Visual Arts. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

    2. Supporting Documentation:  The following documents must be uploaded to the application. Please inform us if you cannot upload your documents.

    1) Digital photograph,

    2) Unofficial transcript,

    3) Resume/CV,

    4) Personal Essay. Please include why you are qualified for the specific award or awards that you have applied for.

    3. Letter(s) of Recommendation:  The selection committee must also receive at least one, but not more than two, recommendation letters for your application to be considered complete. Word or .pdf files are the preferred format, and the file name should include your first and last name (For example, Sally Smith_Recommendation Letter_1).

It is your responsibility to inform those submitting a recommendation letter on your behalf to look for the email from Kaleidoscope and remind them to submit your letters. The email will come to them from: Help@mykaleidoscope.com

If you, or the recommending party, have issues submitting your recommendations via the Kaleidoscope application site (preferred method), they may alternatively email the recommendations to: namedawards@kirkwoodfoundation.org

When you have completed your application, press "Submit" and you will automatically be enrolled for consideration into the scholarship program or programs for which you qualify.

***Note: If you are applying for the Herb Jones Memorial Scholarship, then an additional essay and an example of journalism work will also be required. If you are applying for the Kirkwood Teachers of Color Scholarship, then an additional essay will be required. Please click the "Additional information needed" on the scholarship panel to submit these works.***

Once the application process closes on March 3, 2023, the KSDF Named Awards Scholarship Committee will review all applications and documentation.

Interviews will be determined based on the total number of applications received. A completed application does not guarantee an interview, and the KSDF Named Awards Committee reserves the right to make interview selections. If selected for an interview, you will be contacted by the KHS Guidance office to sign up for an interview. If you are not selected for an interview, you will receive a notification via email. Interviews will occur in late March. Music auditions and Art portfolio reviews will occur in April. Award selections will be made in late April and announced by the first week of May.
