Ms. Barb, Classroom Educator

My name is Barb Guess and I’ve been an ECSE Educator at KECC for 17 years. I have a bachelor's and master’s degree in social work and a post graduate certificate in PBIS. I’m certified in Character Education from Character Plus. I have been married to Dave for 32 years and we love boating at Table Rock Lake. My daughter Katie teaches 1st grade at a local charter school, she and her husband have a 19-month old daughter and a 3-month-old son that I get to see every day!  My son Alex is in medical school and lives in Chicago.

On a side note, I have metastatic breast cancer. It spread to my brain and I had radiation in April which caused me to lose my hair, I’m hoping it grows back soon! If the students ask, I simply tell them I had to take medicine that made me lose my hair. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I’m looking forward to working and playing with your child this year!

Ms. Nikki, Classroom EDucator

My name is Nicole Timlin (Ms. Nikki) and I have worked at KECC since July 2002 both in the classroom and for many years as the special education secretary in the main office. Prior to KECC, I taught two-year-olds, and I was also trained as a Parent Educator through Parents as Teachers.

I was raised in Kirkwood, and I still live here with my husband Tim, a PE teacher at North Kirkwood Middle School, and our three kids, aged 11, 6, & 4 (I also have one adult daughter who grew up spending so much time at KECC and she now works for AT&T in Springfield). We just bought our dream home last summer and we are having fun making it our own. If you walk in the Greentree Parade, you’ll pass my house!

I’m very excited to meet you!
