Ms. Melinda

My name is Melinda Heaton and I am the lead teacher in the Duck Room. I have been teaching since 2001 and in the Duck Room since 2004 at KECC. I hold a Master’s Degree in Education with certification in the areas of Elementary and Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, and Deaf/Hard of Hearing for Birth thru 12th Grade. I am attending UMSL pursuing my PhD in Reading. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, scuba diving and photography.

Ms. Patty

My name is Patty Brennan and I have been an Educator at KECC since 2018 and have been in the Early Childhood field over 30 years. I am married and have three children.  Brian is an aspiring screenwriter and works at the Magic House.  Mary Kate is at Mizzou majoring in Journalism. Meghan is at KHS. In my free time I enjoy gardening and yoga. I am looking forward to another fantastic year with your children in the Duck Room!

Ms. Julie

My name is Julie Reimer and I have been a speech language pathologist since 1998. I did all of my undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Kansas. Yes I am a Jayhawk! Go KU! I have always provided services to the birth to 5 year old population and have been at KECC since 2001. I have a passion for anything to do with speech! When I’m not working, I spend a lot of time with my 2 daughters Ella and Clara, and my husband Chris. My girls are busy with competitive cheer, speaking French, watching Youtube videos, traveling, and school. My husband and I also love to travel and go out to eat.

Ms. Sue

My name is Sue McGhee and I am the occupational therapist in the Duck Room and have worked at KECC since 2007.  I will be working directly with several students, as well as completing a fine motor activity and "Handwriting Without Tears" group with all of the students once per week. I live in the Kirkwood area and have a three children. In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors (hiking or horseback riding especially), watching movies, and reading books.
