STEAMFest Science Fair
STEAMFest is the Kirkwood School District’s take on science fair. It will be held at the Kirkwood High School Science Center on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Students in grades Kindergarten through 12 are invited to share and celebrate their STEAM projects. Visitors are encouraged to explore the STEAM-related opportunities available to students through the Kirkwood School District.
All participating students must complete an application online or submit a hard copy application to their school office by February 7, 2020. No late submissions for judging will be accepted. No exceptions will be made.
Our application will be available online by December 2, 2019. Be sure to provide complete information. You may make changes to your application up until February 20, 2020, ONLY by email notification. Please contact Lorna Dick.
Displays may be dropped off prior to the event on Thursday, March 5 between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Friday, March 6 betwen 4:00 pm and 6:00 p.m. Judging will be conducted both evenings. Displays and virtual submissions will be transferred by our staff to the grade-appropriate display area for viewing on Saturday, March 7 between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m..
NOTE: The application serves as the data source for a number of functions related to our STEAMFest and also the ASSLSF fair at Queeny. All fields should be filled out. Students working in teams will all use the same single form. Projects with more than three students are considered a "classroom" and that application must be filled out by the teacher.
KHS Science Center will host student projects on display in classrooms. Science and engineering teachers will have activities and demonstrations. STEAM, robotics, and makers clubs from various schools will be there to talk about the exciting things they are exploring.
Based on scores and quality of projects, a limited number of students will be selected to advance to the annual Academy of Science St. Louis Science Fair held at Queeny Park Apri 28 through May 2, 2020. More details on that separate event are available by visiting the Academy of Science St. Louis Science Fair website.
