Kirkwood Key Contributor
  • In 2023, KSD launched the "Kirkwood Key Contributor" recognition program. The program is designed to highlight the work support staff members provide to KSD schools, students, and the community. Over 250 nominations were submitted. Of those nominations, 10 support staff members, who support our schools, buildings, teachers, and students in specific ways, were selected and notified via surprise announcement celebrations. The 2023-24 winners are:


  •  Katharine Wager

    Katharine Wager - Classroom, Teacher, and Student Support for our secondary-level students.

    Katharine Wager was announced as our Key Contributor for Classroom, Teacher, and Student Support for our secondary-level students. She is a teaching assistant at North Kirkwood Middle School. Katharine is hard-working, thoughtful, and kind. She is a team player and works well with the teachers to support their classroom needs. She goes above and beyond in her role and takes great pride in her work. She clearly loves kids, and we are so thankful for everything she does to support our North Team!     Kyna McCoy - Physical, Mental, Social, and Emotional Support

    Kyna McCoy was announced as our Key Contributor for Physical, Mental, Social, and Emotional Support for our Kirkwood kids. Kyna is a Special School District of St. Louis County paraeducator at North Kirkwood Middle School and Kyna has such a positive, calming presence in a classroom. She assists students emotionally so that they have independence and can participate in the lesson. She is patient, kind and cheerful. She shows true patience and love for all the students she supports. Thanks for all you do, Kyna!

    Kara Wall - School and Building Support

    Kara Wall was announced as our Key Contributor for School and Building Support for our middle/high schools. Ms. Wall is the data and scheduling specialist at KHS. The KHS team appreciates her knowledge of processes and procedures to create the master schedule every year. She works tirelessly to make sure students are able to take the classes they want. She problem solves, answers questions, plans ahead, and generously gives her time to share her knowledge. Her supportive behind-the-scenes work is a strong foundation that all KHS stands upon.     Phillip Norman - Substitute Supports

    Phillip Norman was announced as our Key Contributor for substitute supports for Kirkwood schools. He is a full time substitute at Kirkwood High School, of where is also an alumnus. Our KHS team appreciates his flexibility and positivity in the midst of a constantly changing schedule. His desire to achieve excellence shows everyday. His work supporting our teachers, staff, and students is truly admirable. He goes above and beyond for our KHS team. Thanks for all you do, Phillip!

    Kathy George - Classroom, Teacher, and Student Supports

    Kathy George was announced as our Key Contributor for Classroom, Teacher, and Student Supports for our youngest learners in Kirkwood schools. She is our Library Media Assistant at Keysor Elementary. She nurtures and cares for every student she encounters. Her bulletin boards, paper hats and costumes, author welcome signs, large box constructions, felted creatures and a myriad of other artistic talents help to make our library a wonderful place to be. Thank you for all you do to make reading and learning fun for our Keysor kids.

    Henrietta Williams - Transportation Supports

    Henrietta Williams was announced as our Key Contributor for transportation supports for our Kirkwood kids. Ms. Henrietta is a bus driver for First Student for the #11 bus for our Keysor Kids. Our Keysor Team is mighty impressed with the care and empathy she shows to each and every one of the students who ride the #11 bus along with getting them to and from school safely every day. Miss Henrietta asks the kids about their activities and listens to all of their stories. She has a great rapport with her bus riders. Thank you for all you do, Ms. Williams!

    Barb Eilerman - Food Services Supports

    Barb Eilerman was announced as our Key Contributor for food services support for Kirkwood schools. "Miss Barb" works at the Kirkwood Early Childhood Center. Her positive energy, bright smile, and bubbly personality bring KECC so much joy. She always ensures the food at KECC is not only safe and sanitary but delicious! She is always going above and beyond to ensure every student's dietary need is met. Our sweet kiddos here at KECC love Miss Barb and the positive light she brings to our school and their plates.

    Brian Benben was announced as our Key Contributor for Adventure Club supports for Kirkwood schools. As both a teacher’s assistant and adventure club support, Brian is invested in the Westchester community. All the WE families know him so well. Mr. Benben is incredibly dependable and reliable. He is willing to cover anything Westchester needs. The Westchester Team appreciates his thoughtfulness, and willingness to support in whatever way possible.

    Shelley Armstrong was announced as our Key Contributor for technology supports for Kirkwood schools. She is our technology specialist at Robinson. Ms. Armstrong is passionate about helping others. She takes the time to explain the systems and techniques needed to use our technology. She is relaxed and patient with staff and students, especially when all we needed to do was restart our devices. She is solution-oriented and helps Robinson every day.

  • Support Staff Past Winners

    From 1994-2022, KSD recognized 5-7 staff members annually. Potential categories were:
    Aid, Assistant, Custodian, Food Service, Maintenance, Social, Office Personnel, Technical Support, Technology, Production Service and Mid-Manager. There was not a winner in every category every year, and some years, there were 2 winners in a category. Since 2013, there have been six winners, and one in the following categories: Assistant, Custodian, Maintenance, Special, Office Personnel, and Technical Support. Past winners include:
