Degrees and Certifications:

Dr. Amber Swopshire

Hi! My name is Dr. Amber Swopshire and I will be teaching 5th grade this year. This will be my 11th year in teaching and I am so excited to take this journey with you all. I have been married for almost 10 years to my husband, Charlie. We have two daughters together. Charlotte, who is 7, will be starting 2nd grade this Fall at Robinson. Addison is the big O-N-E and is already showing her feisty side! I look forward to meeting you all and hope we will have a great time together this year.

I started my career in SLPS (St. Louis Public Schools) as a small group reading teacher for 3rd-5th grades. I then moved into a traditional classroom and taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade while I was there. From there, I went to Ritenour School District where I taught 2nd and 3rd grades. After 4 years in Ritenour, I decided to move closer to home and taught 5th grade in Webster Groves for a year.  This is now my 2nd year in Kirkwood and I am so excited to be here!

Education: In December of 2010, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education 1st-6th grades from UMSL. I got my Master’s in Educational Technology in May 2015 from Webster University. I also received my Doctorate in Teacher Leadership from Maryville University in 2018.
