The Westchester School Clinic is located across the hall from the main office and is staffed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each school day. Kelley Johnson is the school nurse at Westchester. You can visit her website here.
The school nurse is responsible for the following:
• Verifying that students are properly immunized
• Providing emergency care in cases of accidents or illness
• Promoting a healthy physical and emotional environment for educational growth
• Conducting regular hearing, vision, height, and weight screenings for all students, making referrals for follow-up care when necessary
• Acting as a resource for the classroom, for staff, for the Care Team, and for parents and students with particular health needs
• Supervising the administration of medication and/or medical treatments
• Monitoring attendance daily in order to assure the safety of students and to be aware of pattern of communicable illnesses within the school population.
You can assist the school nurse by:
• Keeping students home if they are running a fever, vomiting, and/or seem too sick to benefit from school programs.
• Sharing medical information that might affect your child’s performance at school in any way.
• Notifying her of immunization boosters and the results of physical and dental exams.
• Notifying her of any changes in the information on the student’s emergency card.
Immunization Requirements:
The Missouri Department of Health requires that all children entering school must be properly immunized. Students will be excluded from school if they do not meet these requirements.
DPT 4 doses. The last dose received at age 4 or older. Max (6) doses. Oral Polio 3 doses. The last dose received at age 4 or older. Max (4) doses. IPV/OPV 4 doses. The last dose received at age 4 or older. Max (4) doses. MMR 2 doses. (Measles, Mumps, Rubella). Hepatitis B 3 doses. Varicella 1 dose. (Chicken pox)Students will not be allowed to enter school without proof of these immunizations. When registering your child please bring immunization records with you. If you have questions please call your school nurse.
