Tillman’s Homework Philosophy:
Homework is given to provide additional opportunities for reinforcement and practice of classroom learning. At Tillman we strive to provide each child with a rigorous academic program. While we value the importance of the home-school learning connection, we also believe it is important for the students to play, engage in their own personal interests, and spend quality time with their families.
A general guideline for homework time allocations is 10 minutes multiplied by the grade level (i.e., A student in grade 2 should have no more than 20 minutes.) If your child reaches the time limit, stopping is acceptable regardless of whether the assignment is finished.
Throughout the year you may see other types of assignments such as studying for a science or social studies test; however; these will be infrequent practices.
