Where am I?

Books for Kids

"Although I think we must first be concerned with children's access to books at school, I also think we must become more concerned about ensuring children's access to appropriate books outside of school...all children deserve bedroom libraries where they have at least a handful of books of their own. We are a wealthy nation and we can afford to provide all children with a few books of their own."  Richard L. Allington, from the book, What Really Matters to Struggling Readers

One morning per month, running simultaneously with our School Store, we offer new and gently-used books for sale at 25 cents, 50 cents, and $1.00.  The goal of this book sale program, Robinson Books for Kids, is to get books into the hands of all students, regardless of their ability to pay.  For those students where 25 cents may be a challenge, incentive coupons are available from their teachers.  The students can set a personal or educational goal for themselves and when it is achieved, they can "earn" a book coupon to use at the sale.

If you have new or gently used books that you could donate, please bring them up to school and place them in the box marked Books for Kids. (Please, no preschool or religious books.)

The bookstore will be open between 8:25-8:55 on the following dates for 2011-12:

November 22

December 21

January 13

February 16

March 15

April 13

May 4

Robinson Books For Kids has been made possible by the vision and hard work of Robinson staff member, Emily Kuttenkuler.
