KIRKWOOD EXTENDED LEARNING SUMMER 2011

ELEMENTARY ADVENTURE CAMP

Sessions Held:  June 6- 17^th, June 20- July 1^st, July 5- July 15^th , July 18- 29^th

Class Time:  9:30 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.

Various thematic topics offered in each session.

Enrollment open to students who have completed grades K-5. 

Before and after care available                   

Location:  Tillman Elementary School

Tuition is charged.

ELEMENTARY JUMP START

Classes Held:  July 25- August 5^th

Class Time:  8:30- 11:30

Reading and Math readiness for the new year.

Students invited will be entering grades 2-5. 

Enrollment:  Students are recommended by their principal.

Bus service is available.

Location:  Westchester

No charge.

MIDDLE SCHOOL JUMP START

Classes Held:  July 25- 28^th, August 1- 4^th

Class Time: 

Nipher Middle School (8:00 a.m.-12 p.m.)

North Kirkwood Middle School (8:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.)

Communication Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies readiness for the new year.

Students invited will be entering grades 6, 7, 8.  

Enrollment:  Students are recommended by their principal.

Bus service is available.

Location:  Nipher and North Middle Schools

No charge.

ALGEBRA JUMP START ( students entering 8^th grade)

Session 1:  June 6- 21^st 

Session 2:  June 22- July 8^th

Class Time:  8:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.

Enrollment:  Students (entering 8^th grade) are recommended by their principal.

This is a pre-requisite requirement for some students.                                

Bus service is available.  No charge.

Location:  Kirkwood High School

PIONEER PREP (students entering 9^th grade)

Classes Held:  June 6- July 5

Class Time:    8:30 – 12:30

Enrollment:  Students (entering 9^th grade) are recommended by their principal.

This class will cover study skills, the 9^th grade novel, and vocabulary for freshman                  physics and civics.

Bus service is available.  No charge.

Location:  Kirkwood High School

HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES (students who have completed one or more years at KHS)

Classes Begin:  Monday June 6

Classes End:  Friday July 8 (No class on July 4^th )

Credit Recovery Classes

Class Time:  7:45 A.M. – 11:45 A.M.

Bus service is available.

Two sessions will be held:

Session 1 is June 6 – June 21 (12 days)

Session 2 is June 22– July 8 (12 days)

Classes offered for students repeating a class already taken:

Freshman Literature and Composition, Sophomore Literature and

Composition, Junior English

Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry

Civics, World History I, World History II, World History III

Freshman Physics, Chemistry, Biology

Credit Enhancement Classes

Bus service is not available.

Classes meet from June 6 – July 8 (24 days).  There are two sessions within those      dates to choose:

Session A is 7:30 – 10:00 A.M.

Session B is 10:15 A.M. - 12:45 P.M

Classes offered for students seeking credit enhancement (no previous enrollment in this class):  Health, Personal Finance, Lifetime Fitness, ACT Prep

Credit Completion Classes

Class Time:  7:45 A.M. – 11:45 A.M.

Bus service is available.

Classes offered for students needing more time to complete a class for which a grade has not yet been reported.
