Professional Development Committee
Where am I?
Professional Development Committee
The Kirkwood Professional Development Committee (PDC) is mandated by state law. Each district in the state of Missouri must make provisions for the constant growth its professionals. Though we regularly go beyond the mandate, we are mandated to spend 5% of the our revenues on professional development activities.
It is our mission to provide Kirkwood district with the finest professional growth opportunities to be found. Your PDC dedicates itself to searching out great speakers and great workshops and making the process to attend these opportunities as clear and easy as possible. We do this work in the belief that our colleagues are among the best teachers anywhere and that we all benefit when any of us becomes better at the craft of teaching.

Schedule of Grant Deadlines
There are many opportunities to learn and grow as a teacher here at Kirkwood. Besides PDC, with its speakers and sponsored workshops and grants, building principals also have funds to use for professional growth. The mentoring program is a third avenue for professional growth, and a fourth is the tuition reimbursement program facilitated through the personnel office. In fact, there are so many ways teachers can get support for their professional growth that it at times may get a little unclear which avenue is best for the individual teacher. The PDC is dedicated to helping teachers we represent make sense of these overlapping opportunities so they can find the one that fits them best.
