Where am I?

Volunteer

Volunteers

A. PARENT VOLUNTEERS: Parents are encouraged to volunteer in classrooms at North Glendale School. We feel it is highly beneficial that parents are visible at school. Contact should be made with your child’s teacher to set up a time for you to volunteer in the classroom. All volunteers are asked to go to the school office for sign in.

B. PTO: The North Glendale PTO is highly active. Major events held throughout the year include Shop and Raise, the Fun Fair, the Book Fair, the selling of sweatshirts/tee shirts, the School Dance, the Book Distribution Day, the Plant Sale, and the All-School Picnic. The PTO also works with the school to provide supplemental educational opportunities for students. There is an informational bulletin board located outside the school office.

C. VISITORS: Visitors should sign in at the school office before proceeding to the classroom. Everyone is welcome!

D. HELPFUL HINTS FOR PARENTS: As parents, I can help my child by:

    * Knowing what is happening at my child’s school
    * read the parent/student handbook
    * read the News Gazette, the PTO newsletter
    * read the principal’s monthly newsletter
    * visit school often
    * check your child’s backpack daily
    * ask questions

2.Helping my child with homework:

    * talk about papers your child brings home
    * make reviewing, studying for tests a regular part of your family routine
    * work on math facts
    * ask questions
    * check homework assignments for neatness and accuracy

3.Read to your child:

    * take turns reading-you read a page, child reads a page
    * really listen to your child
    * hug your child
    * say “I love you” often
