Attendance
ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES
Students are expected to attend school every day. Regular attendance is essential for a quality education. If it is necessary for a student to be absent or to leave school early, the following procedures will be followed.
Early Dismissal:
Whenever it is necessary to be excused from school early, students are to bring a note signed by a parent or legal guardian to the main office before school. The note should include the time the student is to be dismissed. Mrs. Dillon or Mrs. Pillman will give the student an "early dismissal" pink slip to present to the teacher when it is time for the student to leave. The student must sign out in the main office when leaving the school. Students may not leave school grounds after arriving on campus without permission from an administrator or being signed out by a parent or guardian.
Illness:
If a student is ill and cannot attend school, parents should notify Mrs. Pierce in the attendance office, 213-6100, x7303, by 9:00 a.m. Any student who has been ill should not come back to school until their temperature has been normal and/or diarrhea or vomiting has ceased for at least 24 hours. Students who are injured or become ill at school must report to a teacher and get a pink slip to see the school nurse. All students who are injured or become ill at school must check with the Nurse's office. A parent, guardian or contact person will be notified before an ill or injured student is sent home.
ATTENDANCE AND RELATED INFORMATION
Students who are absent from school must check with their teachers for makeup assignments. Students who are ill for more than three days may contact teachers for missed assignments. Assignments can be picked up at the office after 3:15. Students are encouraged to call other students on their team to keep current when it is necessary to miss fewer than three days.
Students on suspension are expected to complete all assigned work. It is the responsibility of the parent to make arrangements to receive assignments for students when placed on suspension. The Office of the Assistant Principal will work with the parent to make the necessary arrangements.
Tardiness to School
All students are to be in their assigned classrooms ready to work by 8:15 a.m. Any student not present at this time is tardy. A warning bell will ring at 8:12. After 8:20 a.m. students are not to be admitted to first period class without a pink slip from the office.
All students arriving at school after 8:20 a.m.:
-
Must sign in at the main office to get an admit slip for excused or unexcused tardies.
-
The students who arrive after 8:20 will be given after school detention by the office on the third unexcused tardy in a semester. Chronic tardies may result in NIC. Unexcused late arrivals of more than 30 minutes may automatically result in after school detentions in order to make up the instructional time lost from tardiness.
-
After school detentions are assigned for the day after the tardy to allow the student to bring a note from home.
-
Chronic tardies to school will be unexcused and will require a parent conference.
Students are expected to be in all their classes on time. Students who are late to classes during the school day will be admitted to class by their teachers and counted as late unless a pink slip is provided.
