What is ESY?

ESY or Extended School Year is a summer program offered by the Kirkwood School District where students attend a five-week academic program to master academic materials they struggled with during the school year.

When is ESY in 2008?

The dates for ESY this year are from June 9 through July 11.

What is the ESY Schedule?

ESY meets Monday through Friday from June 9 through July 11.

ESY Middle School is NOT in session on June 27 and July 4.

What are the hours of ESY?

School starts at 7:45am and ends at 11:45am.

Where is ESY being held?

ESY is held at Kirkwood High School, 801 W. Essex Ave.

How are students selected for ESY?

6th, 7th and 8th Teachers and Guidance Counselors will identify students who would benefit from additional class time during the summer in order to strengthen skills and/or continue working toward content mastery.

What classes are offered in ESY?

Middles School ESY offers classes in Reading, Language Arts, and Mathematics.

Should my child be enrolled in ESY?

If you any questions about whether your child should be enrolled in ESY contact your child’s guidance counselor/teacher.

Is bus transportation provided?

ESY follows the same transportation policy as the regular school year. Middle School students who live more than one and one-half miles or more from the school are eligible for bus transportation.
